Al is charming, smart, and impulsive-- a model sociopath. He was raised in Michigan but prefers to drive his truck around the American southwest, where he picks up hitchhikers and chases them through the desert like a genial, bloodthirsty puma. Most people find him really frickin' easy to get along with even though he's constantly imagining what it'd be like to eat them. Not capable of showing a wide breadth of emotion, he kinda just switches between inhuman amounts of chill and vindictive anger.

Glenn is intelligent, opportunistic, conflicted, and kinda bitter. Constantly riding the line between feeling like the smartest guy in the room and being too nervous to prove it, he's too preoccupied with himself to fret much about his buddy's murderous habits. (Which he will not participate in, and he would much rather have a burger, thanks.) He used to hang out in punk/alternative scenes, but meeting Al gave him a new avenue to found family-- one he's still navigating years later, since Al's dad doesn't seem to like or trust Glenn at all.

Al's father and Jack's brother. Xav is the rules tsar of the Czar family (pun intended) and is always holding back a tempest of emotion. He swears like a sailor's mother and has a gift for painting vulgar scenes with words. He believes he's the only thing keeping his family safe and out of prison. Unfortunately, he's usually right. Keeps a spotless home. Makes a mean muffin.

Al's uncle and Xavier's brother. Jack is affable, generous, and loves to make you laugh. He also likes torturing people with power tools, but that's probably not pertinent. Jack is the front-facing member of the family, keeping them in high regard through sheer force of his charity work and lovable personality. He also makes the dentures that help the Czars blend in.

The savvy and preternaturally unimpressed owner of Pointer Trucking. Shannon has a lot of dogs, a prosthetic leg, and no idea she's just let a bear into her henhouse.

At 6'2", PJ's height is inverse to his intelligence. Don't tell him that, though-- oppositional defiance has gotten him this far, after all! PJ and Al have plenty to feud about, but their rivalry isn't nearly as clear-cut as PJ's views on minorities are.

Fiend is ambitious, fussy, and ruthless. When they want something, they get it-- or they scream until someone stronger gets it for them. They're not afraid to pull a knife on you if you get in their way. Fiend is obsessed with death and corpses, and even aspires to be one once their business is wrapped up. The only person who likes them is Hera, who deserves better. Also, they're an omniglot.

Hera is basically a modest Disney princess. Sweet and innocent, slowly learning to be less naive. Comes off dumb, but she's really more sheltered and optimistic. She loves to nurture small animals and currently has a bunch of birds living in her room. She'll try to mother virtually anything. She's hugely protective and naturally stronger than any human, but would feel terrible about actually hurting somebody. Forced by an old family pact to be a bodyguard for Fiend.

He's now stronger, electrically-charged, and has limited shapeshifting and regenerative abilities. But even that hasn't solved his need for professional recognition. And the longer he has to wait for it, the crueler he gets.

Zariya is highly-educated, adventurous, and borderline amoral. In contrast with Fritz, she has nothing to prove to anybody. Learning and picking things apart is a pleasure in itself-- she even lets other colleagues take credit for her ideas, which Fritz finds infuriating. Zariya is attracted to Fritz's project because it's unlike anything she's seen before, and the two develop a deep bond and admiration for the other, culminating in her volunteering to be his second test subject. In addition to German and English, she also speaks fluent Farsi.
